Recycled PU

What is recycled PU?

Recycled PU is a kind of material formed by recycling and reprocessing of Pu corner waste, mold overflow, polyurethane foam and elastomer in scrapped cars and refrigerators, waste shoe soles, waste PU leather and spandex old clothes etc.

Collected from discarded faux leather in the production of clothing, shoes, handbags, furniture, etc., after a series of washing processes, this recyclable Pu fabric provides consumers with a similar color, depth, gloss, spatial texture and hand-rubbed layered tone to traditional leather, achieving a consistent and even texture.

Why is recycled PU a sustainable material?

Recycled polyurethane is an environmentally friendly material as it has a very low environmental impact. Due to its great durability and low thermal conductivity it is the best thermal insulator, becoming an essential ally for energy efficiency. It collaborates in saving energy, resources and, therefore, emissions. In fact, polyurethane saves more than a hundred times the energy needed for its production.

Polyurethane recycling is a commitment to the circular economy with which the life cycle of waste is closed by converting it into new raw materials with which to manufacture products. Furthermore, with the recycling process, the quality and properties are preserved, giving rise to raw materials with the same features as the original ones.

Manufacturers of recycled leather products offer full disclosure of their factories, the materials in their products as well as how and where they make the fabric. In addition to the fashion industry, recycle leather has applications for automobiles, upholstery and interior design. Additionally, the end consumers are a more socially and environmentally conscious generation, desiring products with less animal materials and wishing to eliminate plasticized products.
